Mindful Of You

I cannot recommend Fiona Kelly highly enough. I do not live in Portsmouth, and so caring for my Mum who is in her 80’s and has Alzheimer’s, has been difficult due to the distance I have to travel to give day-to-day assistance. Fiona is a calm and safe pair of hands. She provided companion care for Mum whilst she was living independently in sheltered housing and continues to visit Mum weekly now she is in a care home. Fiona always takes the time to consider what people need in terms of help, stimulation, or reassurance. She is deeply knowledgeable about the needs of dementia sufferers and has provided lots of valuable information and support to our family. She is reliable, honest, and trustworthy. Mum has enjoyed various outings with Fiona, including seafront walks for an ice cream or just sitting on a park bench in the sunshine – all in a lovely, relaxed manner and with a friendly smile. Mum has felt safe and reassured and looks forward to Fiona’s visits. Fiona sends a short report after each visit so we can judge Mum’s moods and anticipate her needs. Fiona is a gem!

Having Fiona to sit with my husband who has Alzheimer's gave him the continuity that he wasn't receiving with agency sitters leaving him with Fiona was of great comfort to me knowing that he was safe and happy, he looked forward to her visits every week, as well as caring for my husband Fiona was also very supportive towards me and helped me in many ways, it has been a pleasure to have Fiona in our home as a carer and friend. I have known Fiona close to 3 years, and she has been in my employ for most of that time. I first met her as a volunteer for Age UK; she came to work with my husband who suffered a major stroke that left him with both physical and cognitive impairments. I was so impressed with her manner, outlook, dedication and the support she gave him. When an opportunity arose for a personal assistant, Fiona was the natural choice. I hired her immediately and without any reservation. Fiona is a kind and caring individual. She demonstrates great empathy and understanding of a person's abilities, however limited. She possesses a special quality that allows her to connect with people on all levels and treat them as an individual. She has a real interest in helping people that always shines through. My husband has clearly benefitted from his interactions with Fiona, and has grown in confidence because of them. I have found her to be honest, reliable, flexible and a true support for my husband. We have been very fortunate to have Fiona, and I would absolutely recommend her as a great asset to anyone looking for the right support for their loved one. She is a true gem.

Fiona was my Take a Break carer for many months. She is professional, knowledgeable and cheerful. She was always punctual and reliable. She supported me through a very difficult time during early lockdown with my partner, who is 85 and has vascular dementia (he is now in an excellent care home).
